☷New Orleans Man Sentenced for Multiple Firearms Offenses

In a more laid - back setting , U . S . District Court Chief Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown gave Laird Johnson , 25 , from New Orleans , a 57 - month prison sentence for stealing a firearm from a Federal Firearms Licensee , having firearms and ammo as a convicted felon , and having a stolen firearm . This info was shared by U . S . Attorney Duane A . Evans . During a search of Johnson ' s home on Aug . 10 , 2021 , three firearms were found , including a Zastava Arms 7 . 62 Rifle , a Glock Model 19 handgun , and a stolen Glock Model 19X handgun . Johnson , who had previous felony convictions , is not allowed to have firearms . He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and a $500 special assessment fee . This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , a program focused on reducing violent crime and gun violence . The investigation was carried out by the ATF , the New Orleans Police Department , and the Kenner Police Department , with Assistant U . S . Attorney Jon Maestri leading the prosecution .
