At the recent awards ceremony at Camp Zama , Japan , for the "Biggest Loser" competition , participants posed for a group photo with leaders and organizers . Megan Hansen , an Army spouse , won the women ' s category , shedding 13 pounds in just six weeks . Overall , 21 participants lost a total of 116 pounds in fat mass . The competition aims to promote healthy weight and body composition through education and behavioral changes . Maintaining self - discipline and having a support system were key factors in participants ' success . A total of 21 people who joined the contest lost a combined 116 pounds of fat over six weeks . Throughout the competition , participants were assessed using the Bod Pod system to calculate their body fat to lean mass ratio . They also had access to metabolic testing to determine their ideal calorie intake and biofeedback to monitor how their bodies responded to stress . Additionally , they attended classes at the center to learn about weight management strategies in sleep , nutrition , and activity . The event , which takes place every January , aims to support the health goals of community members at the start of the year .
