The Minority Business Development Agency ( MBDA ) just announced that Under Secretary Donald "Don" Cravins will be leaving his position as MBDA Under Secretary . He was the first - ever Under Secretary to lead the bureau , which is part of the Department of Commerce . During his time , the agency helped minority businesses secure over $8 . 2 billion in capital and contracts from the government and private sector . Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo expressed gratitude for Under Secretary Cravins ' contribution , especially in launching the $125 million Capital Readiness Program . Deputy Secretary Don Graves also commended Under Secretary Cravins for expanding MBDA ' s outreach to support minority business owners and their communities . Under Secretary Cravins expressed his gratitude for leading the agency and expressed confidence in Secretary Raimondo and Deputy Secretary Graves to continue elevating MBDA ' s role . In the meantime , Eric Morrissette , a member of the Department ' s senior leadership team , and Chief of Staff to Deputy Secretary Graves , will temporarily oversee the bureau . The U . S .
