☷Idaho Civil Support Team Guardsmen Train With Firefighters

In Gooding , Idaho , the Idaho National Guard’s 101st Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team recently trained with local firefighters from Gooding , Bliss and Hagerman . The training aimed to improve collaboration between the teams during emergencies involving hazardous materials or chemicals . Kevin Hungate , a regional manager for the U . S . Department of Energy , commented that these kinds of training exercises are great for building relationships with other agencies . The firefighters were briefed on how the CST can assist them in evaluating and containing affected areas , allowing them to focus on more immediate tasks . The CST Guardsmen demonstrated their specialized technology and techniques for detecting harmful agents , and the training concluded with a demonstration of decontamination procedures . Gooding Fire Chief Steven Bishop expressed the value of this training , as it provided them with an additional resource for specific situations . The 101st WMD CST is available 24/7 to help first responders identify and address chemical , biological , and radiological agents . Lt . Col . John McDaniel , commanding officer of the 101st , emphasized the importance of working effectively with emergency managers from neighboring communities during times of crisis .
