☷Five Cryptologic Giants to be Inducted into NSA s Cryptologic Hall of Honor

The NSA ' s Center for Cryptologic History is excited to announce that five major figures in cryptology will be inducted into the Cryptologic Hall of Honor in 2023 . This year ' s honorees include Evelyn Akeley , who made impressive improvisations in a fast - paced , high - pressure environment during World War II . James Lovell , known as the "one - man NSA of the American Revolution , " played a crucial role in the emergence of our nation . Joseph Mauborgne , a pioneer in communications technology and cryptology , contributed to the United States ' victory in World War II . Jim Radford ' s innovative thinking and projects greatly benefited NSA and contractors . Harry Rashbaum , a linguist , paved the way for computer - based aids in translation and transcription and raised the standards for language analysts . He convinced the NSA to improve language promotions and incentive awards , which was a big deal for recruiting and keeping people . His work and the people he inspired are still making a positive impact on NSA language work today . More info about the 2023 honorees will be announced after a ceremony . The next chance to nominate someone will be in early 2024 , but anyone can submit a nomination at any time . To be considered for the Cryptologic Hall of Honor , individuals or groups must have significantly contributed to America ' s national security through cryptology . This could be a one - time thing or a lifetime of impressive achievements . Government employees must have left cryptologic service at least 10 years before being nominated . Non - U . S . individuals or groups can also be nominated , as long as their achievements happened at least 10 years ago .
