The FBI Washington Field Office , the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms , and Explosives ( ATF ) , Washington Field Division , the D . C . Metropolitan Police Department ( MPD ) , and the U . S . Capitol Police Department ( USCP ) are still looking for help from the public to identify the person who placed pipe bombs near the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington , D . C . back in January 2021 . They ' re offering a $500 , 000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible . Even though it ' s been three years , finding the person behind this attempted attack is still a top priority for the FBI , ATF , MPD , and the USCP . The suspect placed the pipe bombs in a neighborhood near the Republican National Committee Headquarters and the Democratic National Committee Headquarters on January 5 , 2021 , the night before the riots at the U . S . Capitol . Thankfully , the bombs didn ' t explode , but it ' s important to remember that the suspect walked around residential and commercial areas in Capitol Hill with dangerous pipe bombs that could have seriously harmed innocent people . There ' s also a possibility that the suspect could still be a threat to the public . The FBI and other law enforcement agencies have been working tirelessly for the past three years , conducting interviews , reviewing evidence , and following up on tips from the public to identify the person responsible for this incident . They ' re asking the public to take a look at their Seeking Information webpage , which has images and videos of the suspect , the suspect ' s backpack , the suspect ' s shoes , the explosive devices , and a map of the suspect ' s route on the night the pipe bombs were placed . Any information , no matter how small , could be crucial in solving this case .
