   latest editionof the “In Touch with Durham County” show from the Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents of our community important information on our programs and services with the
   February 2024 show
    . Our goal is to have great conversations with our Durham County department heads , our staff , and community partners so that we can share valuable information about our programs and services .
    
   On this month’s
   episode
    , our host Durham County Chief Communications Officer Deborah Craig - Ray welcomes Durham County Tax Administrator Keyar Doyle and Durham County Elections Director Derek Bowens to our TV studio .

   In segment one , Doyle visits In Touch for the first time since his appointment by the Board of County Commissioners in the fall of 2023 . He chats a little bit about his background and career prior to becoming the leader of our Tax Administration as well as discussing some of the responsibilities of the job . Doyle and Craig - Ray also talk about tax bills , payment plans , and the upcoming Durham County property tax reappraisal process that will occur in 2025 .
    
   In segment two , Bowens returns to the show with lots of information regarding the Durham County Board of Elections . He immediately jumps into discussion about the upcoming 2024 Primary and Election , the early voting period , and Election Day of Tuesday , March 5 , 2024 . Bowens will then reflect a little on the 2020 election year , which features much of the same races as the 2024 ballot – the Board of Durham County Commissioners , state races , the Register of Deeds , and of course , the Presidential election . Bowens will also touch upon the NC Voter Photo ID requirements , absentee voting , sample ballots , key dates , and more! Lastly , he talks about Durham County’s involvement in the State Board of Elections’ mailed ballot signature - matching pilot program .
