Position is for 32 hours per week. Schedule will be Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
General Position Description:
The administrative assistant will perform routine and detailed administrative support functions to ensure efficient operation of the Public Health Department of Delta County. Assistant will routinely communicate with and assist members of the public, coordinate with internal departments and external business partners. Assistant is responsible for processing a wide variety of tasks related to record keeping, performing accuracy-focused administrative work, entering and retrieving data into appropriate databases. This work is performed under direct to general supervision and in accordance with outlined policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Provides front desk coverage, general administrative responsibilities and customer service to clients, visitors and staff members.
Compiles information needed for electronic health records as required for position.
Greet in-person customers; answer telephones and communicate with them as to the purpose of their visit; respond to client/public needs in a professional and efficient manner; disseminate information and/or identify problems for resolution, accurately and timely.
Schedule and/or direct individual(s) to the appropriate department and provide referrals to community resources.
Communicate with various departmental staff and external partners in a professional and efficient manner.
Provides clerical support and clinic maintenance for back office.
Confidentiality and discretion are essential.
Performs interpretation communication with clients either through personal fluency or by using an interpretation service.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required, associate’s degree in business operation, medical staff operation or office administration is preferred.
Medical terminology training or certification is preferred.
Experience:
Level I
Minimum of 2 years comprehensive and demonstrated administrative experience is required.
Fluency in verbal and written Spanish and English languages are required.
Hiring Salary Range:
Level I - $19.00 - $20.90 plus a 5% increase for language fluency depending on qualifications
