   Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on , resources for Stamford residents , information about upcoming events , and important city and state information .
   The FY24 - 25 City of Stamford budget season is underway! Right now , we are reviewing each city department’s operating budgets to ensure we are investing in my administration’s key priorities , while also maintaining sound fiscal responsibility .
   As part of our effort to ensure Stamford remains one of the safest cities in our region , we are enhancing investments in public safety in this year’s budget . My budget presentation is on Wednesday , March 6th . Stay tuned for more information about how to watch the presentation and attend future public hearings during the budget process .
    
   Weekly Local Business Spotlight:

   Each week I will highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received one of the 176 Stamford COVID - 19 relief grants .
   JSocci Plumbing Heating & Well Systems LLChas been family owned and operated in Stamford for over 20 years . They offer a full range of residential and commercial services , can work on repairs or new installations , and offer 24 - hour emergency services .  
    
   MAYOR’S UPDATES
   Stamford Veterans Resource Center One - Year Anniversary: 
   February 15
   thwas the one - year anniversary of the opening of the Stamford Veterans Resource Center . This center stands as a testament to the City of Stamford’s unwavering commitment to the men and women who have served our nation with honor and valor . In its first year , the Veterans Resource Center has been instrumental in providing resources and services to hundreds of Stamford’s veterans , including through free blood pressure screenings , housing , food , and medical assistance , vaccinations , mental health services , basic hygiene and cold weather necessities , and important workshops on a variety of different topics , ensuring veterans are aware of the state and federal resources available to them due to their heroic service to our country . Thank you to Carmen Hughes and all the veterans and volunteers who give their time to support the work of the Veterans Resource Center – we could not do it without you!

   Mayor ' s Literacy Initiative Logo Contest:
   We are seeking artwork logo designs for the Mayor ' s Literacy Initiative and the contest is open to all students K - 12 who live in or attend school in Stamford . The entry deadline is Monday , February 26th .

   Operations and Road Maintenace Winter Storms Thank You:I want to give a shout out and a big thank you to all our City Operations and Road Maintenance crews who were up in the early morning hours on Tuesday to safely clear our streets after the snow storm!

   Presidents Day Recycling and Sanitation:There 
   Will
    be Regular Scheduled Garbage and Recycling collection on February 19th , all administrative offices will be closed . The Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center and The Transfer Station will be

   Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan:
   Our administration has been meeting with the Connecticut Department of Transportation and city transportation officials to continue to make progress on the Stamford Train Station Master Plan . To view the Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan , visit:

   Paving Update:
   herefor the priority list for paving operations in response to a city - wide road assessment in 2022 .
   Safe Boating Class: 
   The Stamford Regional Fire School is now offering State of Connecticut safe boating courses . The first class will be on Saturday , April 13th . Get your safe boating certificate before the boating season begins! Class size is limited to 24 students . Additional dates will be added based on demand .

   St . Patrick ' s Day Parade:The St . Patrick’s Day Parade will take place
   on Saturday , March 2 at 2:00 pm!  Bring your loved ones to the perfect family friendly spot - on Summer Street between North Street and Broad Street .  Enjoy the festive atmosphere with colorful floats , lively music , and the spirit of St . Patrick ' s Day! Don ' t miss out on the joyous celebration – mark your calendars and get ready for an afternoon filled with laughter , cheers , and Irish charm!
   Kids Helping Kids Hope Day:On Saturday , February 24
   thfrom 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at UCONN Stamford , Kids Helping Kids ( KHK ) is proud to present the 2nd Annual Hope Day .  The event is a free community event initiated by KHK volunteers who want to create a space for local residents to learn about all the mental health resources available to them . More than 30 vendors to be there and share information about the services their organization provides , as well as opportunities for the public to learn more about the calming effects of YOGA , building confidence and a positive self - image .

   Temporary Roadways at the Greenwich Ave and Pulaski Street Intersection:Temporary roadways are in place at the Greenwich Avenue & Pulaski Street intersection .
