From the Mayor’s Desk
Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on , resources for Stamford residents , information about upcoming events , and important city and state information .
The FY24 - 25 City of Stamford budget season is underway! Right now , we are reviewing each city department’s operating budgets to ensure we are investing in my administration’s key priorities , while also maintaining sound fiscal responsibility .
As part of our effort to ensure Stamford remains one of the safest cities in our region , we are enhancing investments in public safety in this year’s budget . My budget presentation is on Wednesday , March 6th . Stay tuned for more information about how to watch the presentation and attend future public hearings during the budget process .
Weekly Local Business Spotlight:
Carpentry Unlimited Inc
Each week I will highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received one of the 176 Stamford COVID - 19 relief grants .
Carpentry Unlimited Inc . can tackle any home construction project such as building new homes , carpentry services , remodeling bathrooms and kitchens , and doing home additions . They have been in business for 35 years and serve most of Fairfield County . They work closely with the homeowners throughout the process and are committed to the highest quality workmanship .
MAYOR’S UPDATES
Connecticut General Assembly 2024 Session Opening Day:I attended the Connecticut General Assembly ' s Opening Day of the 2024 Regular Session this past Wednesday . The work that kicked off in Hartford will have a real impact on communities across Stamford . Since taking office , I have been proud to advocate in Hartford and call for additional resources for our city and support key legislation that improves the lives of residents . On behalf of the City of Stamford , I’m grateful for the continued work and dedication of our state delegation in both the State House and State Senate . I will continue to work alongside them to support policies that deliver for residents and build a fairer and more sustainable future for Stamford . In this session , I’m committed to protecting and expanding our education funding , promoting affordable childcare , and ensuring equal opportunities for our students .
Re - opening of the Shippan Avenue ShopRite:I recently joined local leaders and The Cingari family for the official re - opening of the Shippan Avenue ShopRite . The Cingari Family business has served the Stamford community for nearly 100 years and their warmth and care for their customers is evident across all 12 stores throughout Connecticut .

Kids Helping Kids:On Saturday , February 24
thfrom 12pm – 3pm at UCONN , Kids Helping Kids ( KHK ) is proud to present the 2nd annual Hope Day . The event is a free community event initiated by KHK volunteers who want to create a space for local residents to learn about all the mental health resources available to them . More than 30 vendors to be there and share information about the services their organization provides , as well as opportunities for the public to learn more about the calming effects of YOGA , building confidence and a positive self - image .
