Wilmington’s Public Works Department has compiled the attached list of streets on which construction or , maintenance will occur over the next week by the City itself , or by either DelDOT , Delmarva Power , or private contractors . The attached information is for Monday , May 23 through Friday , May 27 , 2022 .
The City’s website contains a
real - time map
that is updated daily so you can follow any changes to the weekly schedule caused by weather or other construction - related delays . Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort is made to compile the most accurate list each week of street projects that could affect your travel in the City the following week . She cautioned , however , that the time frames for the listed projects could be altered if they are delayed due to factors such as the weather .
Ladybug Festival , Open Streets , Farmers Market
Motorists are advised that on Friday , May 20 , Market Street between 2
nd
and 4
th
streets , and 3
rd
Street between Shipley and King , will be closed starting at 12 p . m . and continuing until 11 p . m . for the
Ladybug Music Festival
, now in its 10
th
year . More than 40 acts will descend on LOMA for this free event , the largest all - female music festival in the country .
Also , the next Open Streets Wilmington event will be on Saturday , May 21 on Washington Street . The road will be closed to cars from 31
st
Street to Matson Run starting at 12 p . m . and continuing until 5 p . m . For more information , visit:

Downtown Farmers Market
has returned to Rodney Square from 10 a . m . until 2 p . m . each Wednesday – rain or shine –through October . For this reason , Market Street between 10

and 11

streets will be closed every Wednesday to vehicle traffic from 8 a . m . until 3 p . m .
I - 95 Restore the Corridor Project
On March 1 the State of Delaware’s Department of Transportation ( DelDOT ) began a two - year reconstruction project to refurbish and resurface a portion of Interstate 95 that runs through the City of Wilmington . The project moved into Phase 2 , with traffic moving both ways on the northbound side of the highway , in December . As part of the continuing Restore the Corridor project , DelDOT reminds motorists that there are now two exits from I - 95 Southbound into Wilmington: Exit 7A for downtown Wilmington and Exit 6 for 4
th
Street . Exit 7B , which was closed earlier this month , is expected to remain closed for construction for the next three months .
Motorists that need to go out Pennsylvania Avenue or head west on Delaware Avenue should now take Exit 7A , turn left onto Adams Street , and left again onto Delaware Avenue .
