Income eligible homeowners could receive repairs totaling up to $10 , 000;
lottery winners will be selected during a televised drawing on March 19
Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki , Real Estate and Housing ( RE&H ) Director Bob Weir , and Wilmington City Council announced details of Wilmington’s second lottery to select homeowners to receive home repairs totaling up to $10 , 000 . Registration for the latest lottery will open tomorrow , Friday , March 1 . Registration will remain open for two weeks until March 15 . The televised lottery drawing will be held on Tuesday , March 19 at 10:30 a . m . on WITN , Channel 22 on the Comcast Network .
City homeowners who wish to enter the lottery should call the City’s 311 Customer Service Center beginning this Friday morning at 7:30 a . m . Callers should provide their name , property address , phone number and email address . Registrations will be accepted until 7:30 p . m . on Friday , March 15 . If a homeowner attempts to register before this Friday starting at 7:30 a . m . , they will be asked to call back anytime during the two - week registration period . Homeowners can also register for the lottery by using the 311 online reporting process by accessing

Homeowners who registered for the first lottery in December , but were not selected as a home repair participant ,
ARE ELIGIBLE
to apply again for this new lottery . However , if a homeowner has received a repair assistance grant from the City within the last three years , they
ARE NOT ELIGIBLE
for the lottery . During the December lottery , 82 homeowners were selected to fill the 85 available slots for a home repair project . For this latest lottery , 88 names will be selected to participate and then will be reviewed for income and other eligibility requirements by RE&H staff before being officially declared a participant .
The income eligibility limit for Wilmington’s Homeowner Repair Program is intended to ensure that funding is available to those who need it most . The income chart is presented at the end of this news release . below . The lottery process is being used to give all of those who register an equal opportunity to be selected .
Funding for this program totals approximately $1 . 7 million . Up to $10 , 000 in repairs is available to each income eligible applicant for a variety of home repairs that may include:
roof repair/replacement
HVAC repair/replacement
Weatherization
window/door replacement
electric or lighting repairs
plumbing
masonry repairs
structural/safety repairs
railing and safety issues
handicapped accessibility
and exterior painting , among others .
