Village of Bartlett Illinois - Students Recognized for Village Internships 07 September 2022 ( news )

9/7/2022 - Students from the Bartlett High School Science , Technology , Engineering and Math ( STEM ) Academy were recognized at the 9/6 board meeting after completing 60 - hour summer internships with the village . This program , a partnership between School District U - 46 , The Alignment Collaborative for Education and the Village of Bartlett , restarted this year after a two - year pause due to the COVID 19 pandemic . This was the third time this summer internship program was offered to students .
The four students completin......g their internships , Deeya Patel , Cameron Humphries , Beverly Yu and Brian Prince ( not pictured in photo ) , had the opportunity to work in either engineering , geographic information systems ( GIS ) or the Bartlett History Museum .
Engineering interns were able to tour all public works facilities , including water towers , pump stations , the receiving station and more . They also went on inspections of roads , sidewalks and water lines , even assisting in the measuring and obtaining of quantities for the road program , and helped gather information for Bartlett ' s consultant to create a report to the IEPA .
In GIS , interns created a downtown area parking map and used ArcGIS Pro to draw parking lots and symbolize all the different layers used to create downtown Bartlett . Interns also created a used flag drop - off location interactive map , worked on a historic walking tour of North Avenue and built a storymap that will help guide residents through the history of North Avenue .
The Village of Bartlett Museum intern worked on cataloging and filing items in the museum collection . She also created a digital format of the museum’s in - person North Avenue walking tour , making this content accessible to everyone to discover and learn online .
This internship program not only gave these students a tremendous opportunity to step into the professional world in real time , but the students gave the village long - lasting , quality work . Bartlett is extremely grateful to U - 46 and the Alignment Collaborative for their partnership in providing this incredible opportunity for students in the community .
