A late spring storm is predicted to bring heavy , wet snow to our area this weekend . While the precipitation is always welcome , the combination of leafy trees and heavy snow can result in tree damage . Homeowners are encouraged to keep the following tips in mind:
Gently shake snow from trees if it is safe to do so . Use a broom to remove as much snow as possible from deciduous tree branches by brushing or gently shaking . Avoid large , rapid movement that can cause limbs to break .
Property owners are responsible for clearing any downed branches or debris from their own property .
When assessing any tree damage , the
Arbor Day Foundation
recommends not panicking , seeking professional help from a certified arborist , and evaluating each tree individually .
Tree limbs may be disposed of at the following locations:
Douglas County Slash Mulch Program
,
Oxford Recycling
, or
A - 1 Organics
. Please visit each website to learn more about their hours of operation , location and any associated fees .
Residents may report any damaged trees on Metro District property through our
Report a Concern online form
or by emailing
info@highlandsranch . org
. Staff will respond to reported issues as quickly as possible .
