POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will work in Utility Billing and the front desk area of City Hall. The applicant will need to be able to learn multiple tasks and be flexible in working hours.
Water Dept:
Under general supervision, to receive money from the public for payment of utility bills, to answer questions from the public relating to the payments made, to receive complaints, and refer the customers to the proper official; to prepare a variety of related clerical, bookkeeping and accounting tasks as required. Work in Development Services with permits and other duties as assigned.
Regular and timely attendance at work is required. Receives payment for City utility service from customers coming into the office and at the drive-thru window and provides a receipt (includes but is not limited to deposits for new connect services, utility payments, past-due amounts, reconnects, etc.). Process billing for installment accounts, water and sewer taps, and also includes deposits on new connects. Balances daily receipts and accounts for cash on hand; prepares bank deposits. Posts receipts for payments on a daily basis to a computer. Provides account status information to the public. Resolve complaints or refer complaints to the proper official for handling. Uploads readings from MVRS handhelds and downloads reading in a computer system; updates all changes on the computer. Generates monthly financial reports, as directed, for accounting and record-keeping purposes. Completes accounts receivable invoices. Processes utility billing on a monthly basis, including scheduling of billing cycles, reviewing billing “exceptions report” for abnormalities; printing bills and calculating bulk rate postage, and bursting, bundling and tagging bills for mailing. Front Desk:
Responsible for answering multi-line phones, directing calls or taking messages, directing walk-ins to appropriate department and assisting with questions or concerns regarding City businesses, directions, etc. Taking payments and recording daily deposits in computer system. Providing administrative and customer service support for City Hall department and staff. Taking and entering work orders for citizen issues. Create flyers for City closures, etc. Maintain Notices bulletin board in the City Hall lobby. Assist in the job applicant process. Under general supervision, to answer questions regarding cemeteries, to answer questions from the public relating to the payments made, receive complaints, and refer the customers to the proper official; to prepare a variety of related clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting tasks as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferably, candidates should have 1-2 years of prior experience in customer service, cash collections, or administrative support in an office setting. Accounting or bookkeeping experience is helpful, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word is preferred. Prior office experience with strong customer service skills is also preferred.
PAY GRADE:
3
($31,081.37 - $45,067.99) depending upon experience and qualifications.
