The City of Reno is proud to announce Noemi Gomez Martinez , Community Relationships Manager at the City , has been awarded the
    ' Emerging Leaders Award
   ’ from the Local Government Hispanic Network ( LGHN ) , an affiliate of ICMA .   
   Gomez Martinez is the second recipient from the City of Reno to earn this recognition in the past five years .   
   “Noemi is a valued member of the Reno team and we are proud of the exemplary work she does to promote inclusivity in the Biggest Little City , ” said Doug Thornley , Reno City Manager . “We are committed to fostering the success and development of our staff and are honored that LGHN for a second time recognized our staff for their contributions to the community at large . ” 
   The Emerging Leaders Award is given to individuals who are emerging leaders in local government by demonstrating professional excellence and leadership skills in their organization and their community .   
   The award was presented during the Local Government Hispanic Network annual conference in Mesa , Arizona on January 18 , 2024 .   
   “Noemi is now part of a group that looks to encourage other local government leaders to embrace diversity and actively engage with their communities . We look forward to seeing her continued positive impact as a leader in Reno , ” said Samantha Tavares , LGHN Board of Directors and President from the City of Phoenix .  
   In 2022 , the City created the Office of Equity and Community Relations to identify and implement policies and practices that promote organizational and community belonging . The office works with internal and external stakeholders to address community challenges and works to deliver inclusive service delivery and opportunities , something that the Local Government Hispanic Network acknowledges .
