The City of Reno is inviting the senior community to attend an upcoming education guest speaker event dedicated to fraud prevention , scam awareness , identity theft , and other related topics .
Part of the Seniors EngAGED programming , the speaker series will be held Thursday , February 22 , 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 p . m . at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center , 925 Riverside Drive .
The event feature representatives from the Better Business Bureau and the Reno Police Department . Seniors should be aware of fraud prevention , scams , and identity theft , because they are often targeted due to perceived vulnerablilities and safeguarding personal information will help protect seniors and their families .
“Protecting our seniors from scams and fraud isn’t just about money , it’s about securing their peace of mind , ” said Kathryn Nance , Reno Police Chief . “We are excited be part of this Senior EnAGED event this month . ”
Lunch will be provided for attendees while supplies last . This event is part of the larger Reno Seniors EngAGED program , which seeks to enrich and inform the lives of the senior community via program opportunities including fairs , technology classes , guest speakers , and more .
