The Minnetonka Police Department has named Sgt . Jason Tait as the 2022 Glen Lake Optimist Officer of the Year .
Tait , who currently serves as sergeant of investigations , was recognized for his leadership , initiative and efforts to improve the efficiency of the police department . He recently led the development of a department phone app to provide officers immediate access to crime bulletins , city and community resources , interpreters and more when responding to a call .
Tait also coordinates the city’s Mobile Field Force Team , serving as a platoon leader and hosting training for the west command mobile field force consortium . He created the department ' s operation plans for planned demonstrations and took it upon himself to complete the state’s emergency management certification program .
A former Minnetonka Police Explorer , Tait joined the Minnetonka Police Department as a patrol officer in 2005 . He has served numerous roles in his tenure with the department , including school resource officer , police explorer advisor , SWAT team member and field training officer .
His colleagues say Tait leads by example with a positive attitude and calm , professional demeanor .
Tait will be recognized by the Glen Lake Optimist Club in June . Congratulations , Sgt . Tait!
