Councilapproves Wayzata Boulevard
ImprovementsProject
City council adopted a resolution ordering the improvements , accepting plans and specifications , and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the Wayzata Boulevard Improvements Project . Between Cheshire Lane and Plymouth Road , the segment of road was identified for improvement which will include a mill and overlay rehabilitation strategy . The pavement improvement is a cost - effective way to improve the surface and extend pavement life .
Council enters grant agreement for mobile camera trailer
City council adopted a resolution to enter into a grant agreement for the purchase of a second mobile camera trailer for the Police Department . The cost of the camera is covered entirely by the grant . The camera existing camera has greatly improved the department’s situational awareness for response to criminal incidents , increased first responder safety , and other positive impacts . The new camera has all the capabilities of the first , but has features which allow for greater operational flexibility .
Council enters grant agreement for 2023 ReLeaf Community Forestry Grant
City council adopted a resolution for a grant agreement for $338 , 900 from the MN Department of Natural Resources to provide assistance with ash removal , replanting for trees lost and funding for tree preservation efforts on private property . The grant dollars do not require a financial match , and the administration of all programs will be undertaken by natural resources staff .
Council enters grant agreement for Low Salt Design Cost - Share
City council adopted a resolution for an agreement to receive a grant from the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District’s Cost - Share Grant Program . The grant dollars will fund training for citywide staff to aid in reducing salt use during winter maintenance using cold climate site design principles . The grant covers 75% of the cost; the remaining 25% will be used from the public works 2024 approved operating budget .
Council enters grant agreement for Purgatory Park streambank restoration
City council adopted a resolution for a grant through the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources to fund streambank repair and naturalization on Purgatory Creek . These restoration activities are designed to stabilize severe erosion , improve downstream water quality , protect trails and park bridges , and create a resilient native plant community that supports pollinators and wildlife . The grant will provide 90% of the funding , and the city will provide a 10% financial match which is budgeted as part of the ongoing operational expenses of the park maintenance program .
Council approves Walser Kia redevelopment proposal
City council adopted an ordinance and resolutions which approve the proposal by Walser Real Estate LLC to redevelop the existing properties at 15700 and 15724 Wayzata Blvd . An existing retail building will be removed , and a new car dealership service building and associated parking lot and parking ramp will be constructed . Additional provisions regarding lighting were added to the project prior to its approval .
Council appoints boards and commissions members
City council approved appointments and reappointments to the Minnetonka Boards and Commissions . Boards and Commissions provide opportunities for residents to participate in local government and each group advises the council on a variety of issues . Included in the motion was the appointment of commissioners to the newly formed DEI commission as well as appointments and reappointments to the senior advisory board , planning commission and economic development advisory commission vacancies .
