☷Michigan Man Sentenced to 96 Months for Drug and Gun Crimes in Burlington

In Burlington , Vermont , Quenton Dodson , originally from Ypsilanti , Michigan , was recently sentenced to 96 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release . He had pleaded guilty to selling fentanyl , methamphetamine , and illegally possessing firearms . Dodson had previously spent time in a Michigan prison for shooting three people during a drug - related dispute . In Vermont , the police conducted controlled drug purchases from Dodson and obtained search warrants for his apartment and the apartment of a suspected accomplice . They found a significant amount of cash , drugs , and loaded handguns . U . S . Attorney Nikolas P . Kerest emphasized that Vermont is not a friendly place for those who exploit addiction , and he commended the collaboration between law enforcement agencies . Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad echoed this sentiment and praised the efforts to address drug - related issues in the community . The case was handled by Assistant U . S . Attorney Michael P . Drescher and Dodson was represented by Mark Kaplan , Esq . This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods , a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in neighborhoods . The Department of Justice started a plan on May 26 , 2021 , to reduce violent crime . They ' re focusing on building trust in communities , supporting organizations that prevent violence , prioritizing enforcement , and tracking the outcomes .
