Man Shot While Trespassing on Private Property
   DURHAM , NC - ( Friday , February 2 , 2024 ) On the evening of Thursday , February 1 , 2024 , just after 5:30 p . m . , deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office patrol division responded to an address on the 8200 block of NC 751 for the report of an individual trespassing at a private residence .  When they arrived , the man was identified by a resident of the home as Brandon Collins . Collins had left the property however it was communicated by the resident that this was the second time Collins trespassed on the property on the same day .
   Just after 7:00 p . m . , Collins returned to the residence a third time , jumping a fence to gain access . DCSO was again called for assistance . Upon arriving , the responding deputy observed Collins and a resident of the home involved in a physical altercation outside of the residence .   After separating the two men , it was discovered that Collins had been shot .  
   Collins was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non - life - threatening injuries .   An arrest warrant was granted for Brandon Lavell Collins , 35 years of age of Durham on charges of First Degree Trespassing . Upon his release , he was taken to the Durham County Detention Center and given a $5 , 000 secured bond .   He remains in custody this morning .
