So today , Anthony Shane Gilstrap got sentenced to 63 months in prison for breaking the law by illegally transporting hazardous waste in Hawaii and possessing a stolen firearm in Kansas . He already pleaded guilty to these crimes in April and will also have to do three years of supervised release , where he ' ll participate in mental health , behavior , and substance abuse programs . According to court documents , Gilstrap violated the law in Hawaii by removing 35 drums of hazardous waste from a dry - cleaning operation without following proper precautions . He then stored the drums in a warehouse without a permit and even forged documents when questioned about it . The company that owned the dry - cleaning operation has already been sentenced . Later on , Gilstrap was caught with a stolen handgun during a traffic stop in Kansas . The cases were combined for his plea and sentencing . The judge in Kansas gave the sentence . The Environmental Protection Agency and other law enforcement agencies investigated the case , and prosecutors from the Justice Department handled it .
