☷Kyle Man Sentenced to Federal Prison

In a recent update , it was announced that a man from Kyle , South Dakota , has been sentenced for possessing ammunition as a prohibited person . Evan Brown Bull , aged 38 , was found guilty in a federal district court in Rapid City , South Dakota , in January 2024 , following a two - day jury trial . He was sentenced to two years and nine months in federal prison and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund . Brown Bull , who is a previously convicted felon , was caught with 11 rounds of Black Hills Ammunition brand , . 380 AUTO caliber ammunition , 49 rounds of Blazer brand , 9x19mm Luger ammunition , and 49 rounds of PMC brand , . 38 Special caliber ammunition . This discovery was made during a traffic stop in March 2022 , where Brown Bull had an encounter with Rapid City law enforcement . The investigation and prosecution of this case were carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives , and the Rapid City Police Department , with Assistant U . S . Attorney Anna Lindrooth leading the prosecution . The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , an initiative that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence , and create safer neighborhoods through collaboration between law enforcement and communities . As a result of the sentencing , Brown Bull has been taken into the custody of the U . S . Marshals Service in the St . Paul Field Division .
