☷HUD Announces Expansion of Program to Promote Innovations in Housing

The Moving to Work Program expansion allows communities to come up with creative housing solutions and resident services . Today , Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman of the U . S . Department of Housing and Urban Development announced the final group of housing agencies selected for the Moving to Work Demonstration program expansion . These agencies will evaluate the program ' s impact on efficiency and services for residents . The program provides flexibility for agencies to tailor solutions to meet the needs of residents and increase housing options for families . HUD worked closely with Congress , advocates , and industry groups to select the 14 housing agencies for this cohort . The agencies will have the freedom to test local strategies and develop innovative policies and programs . This expansion brings the total number of MTW agencies nationwide to 139 , operating in 40 states and D . C . The program aims to empower housing agencies to be more creative and efficient in fulfilling their mission . MTW agencies have a history of driving innovation in providing housing and services to low - income residents , and have influenced national policy for over 25 years . The MTW Flexibility II Cohort has picked the following housing agencies: Livermore Housing Authority in California , Boulder County Housing Authority in Colorado , West Hartford Housing Authority in Connecticut , Seminole County Housing Authority in Longwood , Boca Raton Housing Authority in Florida , Evansdale Municipal Housing Authority in Iowa , Kendall Housing Authority in Illinois , Watertown Housing Authority in Massachusetts , Bath Housing Authority in Maine , Great Plains Housing Authority in Jamestown , Portsmouth Housing Authority in New Hampshire , Housing Authority of the City of Rochester in New Hampshire , Pittston Housing Authority in Pennsylvania , and Staunton Redevelopment and Housing Authority in Virginia .
