A busy upcoming council meeting will see Durango City Council vote on a new Parks and Recreation director , receive an update on promoting Police Chief Bob Brammer to fill an Assistant City Manager position , and discuss whether to reprimand Councilor Olivier Bosmans for acting in a manner unbecoming of a councilor .
Council will hold a its regularly scheduled 5:30 p . m . meeting at council chambers , 949 East Second Ave .
At themeetingCouncil will:
Discuss whether to approve a resolution that would appoint Kelly Schmidt as the new Parks and Recreation director . Schmidt is currently serving as the Director of Investments of Greenspace and Community Initiatives for Runway Group LLC in Bentonville , Arkansas . She has more than 25 years of professional experience in the parks and recreation industry , with 11 years of experience in an executive role .
Consider a resolution to adopt the 2024 - 2026 Durango Public Library Strategic Plan . Goals of the updated plan include extending the library’s reach to underserved users and communities , improving user access to the library’s physical collection , and assess and audit the effectiveness and usage of digital collections .
Vote on a
resolutionthat would reprimand City Councilor Olivier Bosmans for acting in a manner unbecoming of a councilor and bringing disrepute to the Durango City Council . The resolution seeks to offer a letter of apology from councilors to the city manager and staff following Bosmans’ actions at the
Nov . 7 council meeting .
Hold a public hearing to discuss names for the new road right of way that’s part of the Downtown Fire Station and Powerhouse Minor Subdivision Preliminary Plan . The subdivision includes dedication of road right of way to the city , which needs to be named . The city’s Planning Commission recommended council choose “West 12
thStreet” as the new name for the road .
Vote on a resolution that would approve a joint stipulation of dismissal concerning litigation filed by John Simpson . Under the proposed settlement , Simpson and the city agree to dismiss claims against each other related to Simpson’s lawsuit 2023CV30146 filed Nov . 8 , 2023 for certain records . Both sides would pay their own attorney fees .
Schedule a public Hearing to discuss proposed updates to the Land Use and Development Code regarding the addition of “detached condominiums” to existing subdivision classifications , and an updated flood insurance study and rate maps .
Receive an update on the process for promoting Durango Police Chief Bob Brammer to an Assistant City Manager position . The update will also include a timeline for the hiring process of a new police chief .
