Summary:
Supervises the alteration, maintenance and repairs of City buildings and equipment; performs related work as required.
Supervision:
Works under the supervision of the Director of Public Services who assigns work and inspects for proper completion and conformance with established policies and regulations. Exercises full supervision over a number of workers in the maintenance division of the Public Services Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Supervises the alteration, maintenance and repair of City owned buildings and equipment including painting, carpentry, masonry and glazing.
Supervises the installation and maintenance of park and playground equipment, stadium, parking meter posts, street and traffic signs, guardrails and voting equipment.
Supervises the work of carpenters, painters, masons and related helpers; assigns and schedules their work; keeps time records; trains and instructs workers in procedures; issues supplies and equipment; reviews and inspects work for conformance with established procedures and safety regulations.
Assists Project Coordinator in planning projects; lays out work schedules; makes regular inspection of buildings and equipment.
Prepares estimates of materials and labor; procures supplies and materials.
Confers with City inspectors to assure meeting building code requirements.
May participate in the work of maintenance and repair.
Qualifications
:
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of building maintenance.
Thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices of business management.
Demonstrated ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
A high degree of skill in making difficult reports.
Tact, good judgment, initiative.
Considerable responsible supervisory experience in general building maintenance and completion of a standard grade or trade school course or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License.
Possession of Mass Construction Supervisors License.
