Hermosa Beach Little League Opening Day
Weather permitting , Hermosa Beach Little League will hold on Opening Day celebrations on Saturday , March 2nd . The festivities will include baseball activities , food , performance by the Hermosa Valley Middle School Band , and a parade of teams . Presidential Primary Election - Hermosa Beach Voting Center
The Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday , March 5
th
. Community members have several ways to cast their votes for this election . For your convenience , you can drop off your vote - by - mail ballot in the drop box near the Hermosa Beach Library and City Hall .
If you prefer to vote in - person , you may visit our Vote Center located in the Hermosa Beach Community Center , Room 7 . The Vote Center will operate from 10am to 7pm , seven days per week , now through March 4th , with the extended hours of 7am to 8pm on Election Day .
Additionally , on March 4th , the City will host an L . A . County mobile voter center at the Civic Center Parking Lot from 11am to 4pm , with a special visit from K9 Charlie . Please visit

CIP 191 Annual Street Maintenance - Prospect Avenue
We are pleased to report that we continue to make significant progress on the construction of CIP 191 Annual Street Maintenance project . Paving and associated concrete work are complete on Prospect Avenue between Artesia and Aviation Boulevard , and on Golden Avenue and 17th Street to the east of Prospect Avenue . Ongoing rain temporarily delayed the striping and bike sharrows , but work will resume as weather permits . Partial lane closures will be necessary during the striping work and will take place between the hours of 9AM and 4PM . We thank you for your patience as we complete this important infrastructure improvement .
CIP 102 and 193 Pedestrian Crossing Safety Improvements , Phase 1 Project
We are excited to announce that construction for Phase I of the Pedestrian Crossing Safety Improvement project began on February 22 , 2024 . The first phase of the project includes the installation of safety improvements at 10 intersection locations throughout the City . Safety improvements include rectangular rapid flashing beacons ( RRBFs ) , enhanced pavement markings , and updated signage .
Refreshed crosswalk striping , installation of RRFBs , adjusted parking spaces for better sightlines , and preemptive safety measures are also underway at Manhattan Ave between 28th Ct and 29th St . Completion of Phase 1 is anticipated by mid - March depending on weather conditions .

Clean Power Alliance
. As a reminder , in October 2022 , the City Council approved joining the Clean Power Alliance and opted to join at the 100% renewable energy level .

Resident and Business Mitigation Education Campaign
City officially launched its “HERMOSA BEACH , BE READY” resident and business mitigation education campaign this February . The campaign uses Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds to engage and inform the local community about where to obtain emergency information , hazards in our City , and how we can work together to implement strategies to prevent injury , loss of life , and decrease the length of time it takes for the community to recover from a disaster .
