☷DOE Announces Funding for Tribal Clean Energy Projects

The Department of Energy just announced $25 million in funding to help Tribal communities deploy clean energy technology , increase energy sovereignty and resilience , and lower energy costs . This funding will support local clean energy generation on Tribal lands , improve energy access and security , and honor the commitment to Tribal sovereignty . Secretary of Energy Jennifer M . Granholm emphasized the importance of providing affordable and reliable energy to Tribal communities . The funding opportunity is open to Indian Tribes , Intertribal Organizations , and Tribal Energy Development Organizations to install clean energy systems , deploy community - scale energy projects , and enhance energy resilience . The DOE ' s Office of Indian Energy has already invested over $120 million in Native communities since 2010 , resulting in the installation of over 46 megawatts of new electricity generation . Applications for this funding are due by May 30 , 2024 . The Office of Indian Energy is hosting a webinar on March 14 , 2024 , to give interested applicants more info on the FOA and how to apply .
