Approximately $18 million will be awarded under the Local Government Energy Program to fund high - impact projects led by municipalities or Tribes . This funding aligns with President Biden ' s Investing in America agenda and the administration ' s commitment to supporting Tribal sovereignty and clean energy technology access . The program ' s goals include reducing energy use , creating local jobs , and benefiting disadvantaged communities through clean energy initiatives .
