Scout Troop 100 member Landon Pace gave the invocation at the February 6 , 2024 , City Council meeting and Scout Troop 482 Color Guard presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance . A proclamation celebrating National Scouts BSA Day was presented to the District Executive of Boy Scouts ( Chief Solano and Lake District ) Kornelius Neal , by Councilmember Doug Carr . Mr . Neal is also the new pastor of St . Stephens CME Church .
   In celebration of Black History Month , Fairfield Poet Laureate Suzanne Bruce read her original poem entitled , “Awakening the Arts . ”  Councilmember K . Patrice Williams presented a proclamation to members of the Fairfield - Suisun - Vacaville Section of the National Council of Negro Women , Inc . honoring the 2024 theme of Black History Month , “African Americans and the Arts . ” The origins of Black History Month date back over 100 years , to the summer of 1915 , when the Historian Carter G . Woodson helped organize a national celebration in honor of the 50
   thanniversary of emancipation .
   Mayor Catherine “Cat” Moy presented a proclamation celebrating Lunar New Year to C . C . Yin and members of the Asian Pacific Islanders American Public Affairs and the Chinese Association of Solano County . Founders C . C . and Regina Yin , together with a pioneering group of civic and community leaders , established APAPA in 2001 . Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar . It is the most important holiday in China , and it is also widely celebrated in South Korea , Vietnam , and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population .
   The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday , February 20 , 2024 , at 6 p . m . in the Harry T . Price Memorial City Council Chamber at City Hall .
