The Town has a current vacancy for an Accountant position. The responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to, maintaining a varied and complex set of accounting records; posts entries to books from supporting records; makes adjusting entries; prepares financial statements from accounting records; verify unencumbered balances on books against the amounts reported monthly by auditors; assists a higher level accountant; control expenditures; assist in preparing a department budget; performs internal audits on accounts, payroll, invoices and expenditures to prove mathematical correctness; may supervise a number of clerical personnel engaged in maintaining fiscal records; performing other related duties as required.
MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING CREDENTIALS OR YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED - Bachelor's Degree which includes at least twenty-four (24) credits in Accounting, and two (2) years of experience as an accountant or auditor.
Note: Bookkeeping experience will NOT be credited towards meeting the above minimum qualifications.
Possession of a New York State license as a Certified Public Accountant may be substituted for two (2) years of experience as an accountant or auditor.
The annual salary is $71,683.20 plus full benefits package!
