☷Two Violent Carjackings in Chicago Lead to 18 Year Federal Prison Sentence

A guy from Chicago , Kashif Dukes , got sentenced to over 18 years in federal prison for violently stealing two cars . In the first incident , Dukes took a Mercedes - Benz sedan in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood in 2017 . He threatened the driver with a gun and demanded they get out of the car . He then took their belongings and drove away in the stolen Mercedes . The second carjacking happened in 2018 in the Little Italy neighborhood when Dukes and his buddies stole a Chevy Equinox from a woman and her family . They used firearms and yelled at the women to get out of the car . Dukes pleaded guilty to the first carjacking and was convicted of the second one . The jury also found him guilty of federal firearm charges . U . S . District Judge Jorge L . Alonso sentenced him to 18 years and three months in federal prison . The announcement was made by Morris Pasqual , Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois , Christopher Amon , Special Agent - in - Charge of the Chicago Field Division of the U . S . Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms , and Explosives , and Larry Snelling , Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department . Assistant U . S . Attorney Jasmina Vajzovic argued that Dukes traumatized the victims and should be punished accordingly .
