A holiday wreaths producer has been ordered by a court to pay $1 . 8 million in back wages and damages to 700 workers after an investigation into wage violations . The investigation began after workers were injured in a van crash . Continental Floral Greens , which supplies major retailers like Costco and Walmart , was found to have denied workers overtime pay and violated the rights of migrant and seasonal workers . The company also submitted false information about wages and housing for workers under the H - 2B worker program . The court ' s ruling requires the company to pay back wages and damages to the workers , as well as penalties for the violations . The Wage and Hour Division is all about making sure employers do right by their workers , said District Director Thomas Silva in Seattle . They ' re gonna use every tool they have to protect U . S . and H - 2B workers , including making sure they get overtime pay . Employers who hire workers from outside the U . S . on temporary visas gotta provide safe conditions and pay the legal wage , including overtime . Continental Floral didn ' t do any of that , according to Regional Solicitor of Labor Marc Pilotin in San Francisco . They ' ve got farms and facilities in a bunch of states and ship products all over . If you think you ' re owed back wages , you can check out the Wage and Hour Division ' s website . Employers and workers can call them with questions in over 200 languages . They even have an app to help track your hours and pay . Actings Secretary of Labor Julie A . Su is taking on Continental Floral LLC in court .
