☷Pine Ridge Man Sentenced to 45 Years in Federal Prison

U . S . Attorney Alison J . Ramsdell announced today that Chief Judge Roberto A . Lange has sentenced a man from Pine Ridge , South Dakota , for committing Second - Degree Murder , Robbery , Carjacking , and Brandishing a Firearm During a Crime of Violence . The sentencing happened on Feb . 6 . JT Myore , who is 37 years old , will be spending 45 years in federal prison , followed by 10 years of supervised release . He also has to pay $400 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund . JT Myore was indicted for Carjacking , Robbery , Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury , and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon by a federal grand jury in January of 2023 . He was found guilty of Robbery , Carjacking , and Brandishing a Firearm During a Crime of Violence after a jury trial in federal district court on Sept . 27 , 2023 . He was also indicted for Second - Degree Murder by a federal grand jury in August of 2021 , and found guilty of Second - Degree Murder following a jury trial on Nov . 9 , 2023 . In August of 2019 , Myore and another person used firearms to steal a Ford Freestyle from someone in Pine Ridge . In May of 2021 , Myore and his accomplices violently attacked a man in Pine Ridge to steal his Toyota Celica . The man suffered a broken arm and cuts and bruises to his head and face . In May of 2021 , Myore was at a party near Pine Ridge while intoxicated , and an argument broke out between some of the party attendees and the male victim . The victim tried to walk away , but before he could escape , Myore fatally stabbed him with a knife . The FBI , the Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives ( ATF ) , and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety investigated these cases . Assistant U . S . Attorneys Megan Poppen and Anna Lindrooth handled the prosecution . Myore was immediately taken into custody by the U . S . Marshals Service .
