☷Member of Violent New Haven Gang Sentenced to 78 Months in Federal Prison

Kiveon Hyman , also known as "Tiny , " 26 , from New Haven , was given a 78 - month prison sentence today by U . S . District Judge Victor A . Bolden in New Haven for involvement in a racketeering offense related to a violent street gang in New Haven . The announcement was made by Vanessa Roberts Avery , United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut , along with other law enforcement officials . The investigation revealed that Hyman and other gang members were involved in drug trafficking , firearms use , and multiple violent crimes . Hyman has been in custody since his arrest in 2023 and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in racketeering activity . This investigation is being carried out by ATF , the FBI , the DEA , the New Haven Police Department , and the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office , with support from the Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory . The case is being handled by Assistant U . S . Attorneys Tara E . Levens , Rahul Kale , and Jocelyn C . Kaoutzanis . This prosecution is part of the Justice Department ' s Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , Project Longevity , and Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces ( OCDETF ) programs . PSN aims to reduce violent crime and make communities safer . Project Longevity works to decrease gun violence in Connecticut ' s major cities by engaging with at - risk groups and offering support to those who want to change . OCDETF focuses on disrupting drug traffickers , money launderers , gangs , and criminal organizations through a collaborative law enforcement approach .
