Happy National Engineers Week!
   At last week ' s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting , Mayor Stan Joyner asked the Town’s engineering staff to join him in front of the dias to present them with a proclamation for National Engineers Week February 18 - 24 .
   National Engineers Week ( EWeek ) was founded in 1951 to help ensure a diverse and well - educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of , and interest in , engineering and technology careers . The theme of EWeek for 2024 is “Welcome to the Future” celebrating today’s achievements and paving the way for a brighter and more diverse future in engineering .
   In the proclamation , Mayor Joyner read , “engineering has been called the invisible or stealth profession because everything around us and things we use every day have been engineered in some way , yet we may not see the engineers behind the scenes or know much about engineering . ” 
   From infrastructure improvements to traffic signals , the Town’s engineering staff has made their mark throughout Collierville .
   The mayor presented Town Engineer Dale Perryman with the proclamation thanking him and his staff for their daily dedication to the important work they provide to improving the quality of life in Collierville .
