☷Lancer Brigade takes part in Exercise Cobra Gold 2024

U . S . Army soldiers and members of the Royal Thai Army are practicing their movement techniques and hand signals at a small arms range during Exercise Cobra Gold 24 . This exercise helps strengthen relationships and improve cooperation among Allies and partners through shared experiences and intense training . The soldiers from the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team arrived in Thailand to participate in the 43rd iteration of Cobra Gold , which is the largest joint exercise in mainland Asia . This year , there will be 10 nations fully participating and approximately 20 more serving as limited participants , planners , and observers . Col . Andrew Gallo , the commander of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team , is excited to enhance the strong relationship with the Thai counterparts through field training and live - fire exercises . Antonio Richardson , from Chosin Company , 1st Battalion , 17th Infantry Regiment , 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team , 7th Infantry Division , showed members of the Royal Thai Army how to take apart and put together an M249 Squad Automatic Weapon at a shooting range during Exercise Cobra Gold 24 on February 29 , 2024 , in Sa Kaeo Province , Thailand . This joint exercise helps strengthen relationships and improve coordination between Allies and partners through shared experiences and intense training . U . S . Army Sgt . Dylan Grubeck , also from Chosin Company , answered questions from the Royal Thai Army soldiers during the same event . Additionally , U . S . Army soldiers from Chosin Company and members of the Royal Thai Army conducted squad movement exercises at the shooting range . Throughout the exercise , the Lancer Brigade will participate in various activities such as live fire exercises , training evaluations , and artillery firing tables . The 2 - 2 SBCT , based in Joint Base Lewis - McChord , Washington , supports missions and training in the Indo - Pacific region . The units from 2 - 2 SBCT involved in this iteration of the exercise include the 1st Battalion , 17th Infantry Regiment; 2nd Battalion , 17th Field Artillery Regiment; and elements from the 14th Brigade Engineer Battalion and the 2nd Brigade Support Battalion .
