At Pease Air National Guard Base in New Hampshire , amidst misty showers and freezing rain , the 167th Airlift Wing loaded people and equipment onto a C - 17 Globemaster III . Soldiers and Airmen from the New Hampshire and West Virginia National Guard prepared for the "Granite Falco" training exercise with the Cabo Verdean Armed Forces starting on March 18 . U . S . Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nicholas Rossetti , an HH - 60M Black Hawk pilot , expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the knowledgeable Airmen at the 157th and provide valuable hands - on training . Over three days , the team completed various tasks at Pease ANGB before boarding the C - 17 with the equipment . Rossetti and U . S . Air Force Master Sgt . Andrew Norton emphasized the importance of the exercise in preparing for deployments and collaborating in joint environments . The aeromedical evacuation company will travel to Cabo Verde for Exercise Granite Falco , conducting simulated flying missions and offering medical training to Cabo Verdean military personnel and first responders . The New Hampshire National Guard and Cabo Verde have been partners in the State Partnership Program since 2021 , and the exercise provides both training opportunities and support to Cabo Verde . The joint group securely packed two Black Hawks , a Humvee , eight tri - wall containers , and other critical equipment for the journey , with Rossetti acknowledging the support of leaders , partners in Cabo Verde , the West Virginia Air Guard , and the Airmen at the 157th .
