☷HUD AND CENSUS BUREAU REPORT NEW RESIDENTIAL SALES IN DECEMBER 2023

Hey , guess what? The U . S . Department of Housing and Urban Development ( HUD ) and the U . S . Census Bureau just released some new stats on residential sales for December 2023 . According to their estimates , sales of new single - family houses were at a rate of 664 , 000 for the year , which is an increase of 8 . 0% compared to November and 4 . 4% compared to the previous year . In terms of price , the median sales price for new houses sold in December 2023 was $413 , 200 , while the average sales price was $487 , 300 . At the end of December , there were about 453 , 000 new houses for sale , which means there ' s a supply of 8 . 2 months at the current sales rate . The next report will be out on February 26 , 2024 . Just keep in mind that these stats are estimated from sample surveys , so there might be some variability and error involved . , and changes in the price of houses with the same characteristics . In this case , there is insufficient statistical evidence to conclude that the actual change is other than zero .
