A guy from Greenville , Mississippi got sentenced today to 2 . 5 years in prison for having a machinegun illegally . This dude named Johnny Watkins , also known as Lil Munk , is only 19 years old and has been causing a lot of trouble in the Greenville area . The cops got a search warrant for his place after seeing his social media posts where he was bragging about being in a gang , showing off guns and drugs , and threatening other gang members . They found a Glock pistol with a 23 - round magazine at his crib , and it had a machinegun conversion device attached to it . This device is called a "switch" and can turn a regular gun into a machinegun . On top of all that , Watkins has used guns in other crimes , including shooting at a police officer ' s house . The judge sentenced him to 30 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release . U . S . Attorney Clay Joyner said that these devices are a big danger in Mississippi , and this sentence shows that people will be held accountable for their illegal acts and having automatic weapons . The Bureau of Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms and Explosives ( ATF ) also said that these conversion devices are a serious threat to communities and they ' re focused on stopping criminals from getting them . The Greenville Police Department is working hard to keep the community safe and reduce crime and gun violence . This case is part of a program called Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) that aims to make neighborhoods safer and reduce violent crime and gun violence .
