   The Biden - Harris Administration just announced that they ' re gonna have another rulemaking session on February 22 and 23 to help out borrowers who are struggling . They ' ve been working on this issue since last summer and have already provided over $136 . 6 billion in relief to millions of Americans . The session will focus on hardship and there will be a chance for the public to give their input . They ' ll also continue working on other issues later this year . You can find updates and watch the sessions online . The Biden - Harris Administration is committed to helping borrowers and making higher education more affordable . They ' ve already approved a ton of relief for borrowers and are working on even more ways to support them . This includes borrowers who have benefited from the Biden - Harris Administration ' s limited PSLF waiver and improvements to the program . Before the fixes made by the administration , only around 7 , 000 borrowers had ever received forgiveness . They have provided $11 . 7 billion for almost 513 , 000 borrowers with permanent disability and $22 . 5 billion for over 1 . 3 million borrowers who were deceived by their schools or affected by related court settlements . The Biden - Harris Administration is dedicated to making college more affordable and ensuring that student debt doesn ' t hinder obtaining a degree . They introduced the SAVE Plan , the most affordable student loan repayment plan , increased Pell Grants , and plan to double the maximum Pell Grant and make community college free . They are also holding institutions accountable for unaffordable debts and have established regulations to provide transparency and information to students .
