Cool , right? The approval for Zevtera to be used in pediatric patients with community - acquired bacterial pneumonia was based on data from studies in adults and children with pneumonia . Common side effects for adults with different types of infections included things like nausea , diarrhea , and headaches . For pediatric patients with pneumonia , common side effects included vomiting and headaches . Zevtera was given special designations by the FDA for its potential to treat different types of infections quickly . The approval for Zevtera was granted to Basilea Pharmaceutica International Ltd . The main way we measured how well Zevtera worked was by looking at the rates of patients who were cured during their follow - up visit , which typically took place 7 - 14 days after they finished treatment . In the study , 76 . 4% of those who took Zevtera were cured , compared to 79 . 3% who took the other medication . We also looked at how many patients showed signs of improvement by Day 3 , with 71% in the Zevtera group and 71 . 1% in the other group . People should not take Zevtera if they have had a bad reaction to ceftobiprole or any other ingredients in the medication . There are also some important warnings and precautions to be aware of , like a possible increased risk of death in certain patients .
