The City of Loveland has released the final draft of its Eagle Vista Natural Area Management Plan for public review and comment . The Open Lands and Trails Division of Parks and Recreation prepared the management plan to identify a corridor for a publicly accessible trail , including a portion of the Colorado Front Range Trail , and define plans for site restoration , wildlife protection , and development of amenities for public access . The plan allows for on - going sustainable stewardship of the property and greater trail connectivity between Loveland and neighboring communities to the south .
A public meeting for the initial draft Eagle Vista Management Plan was held on November 8 , 2021 . Information was presented about the site including existing resources , habitats , opportunities , challenges , and a preferred plan . City representatives and staff from ERO Resources , the city’s consultant for the plan , were on hand to interpret the displays and answer questions . Presentation materials were also made available online . Public review and input were solicited at the meeting and email comments were accepted following the meeting . Based on public input received , extensive evaluation of possible alternatives , and meetings with stakeholders and other interested parties , the draft plan has been revised for final public review . The management plan includes a vision for public access , trails , land conservation , restoration and management of important habitats and corridors . Once Eagle Vista is developed with trails and other amenities for public access , the property will be open to the public .

Comments should be emailed to
openlands@cityofloveland . orgby January 21 , 2024 . Feedback received will be considered in the final review of the plan by the Open Lands and Trails Advisory Commission at their February 14 , 2024 meeting . Upon final approval of the management plan by the Parks and Recreation Director , funding will be sought to implement the plan , including state and federal grants , the city’s allocated portion of the Larimer County Open Space sales tax , and the city’s Open Lands and Trails Capital Expansion Fees .
