Searchlight, Nevada - Clark County Increases Investment in Affordable Housing with Additional $30 Million 20 March 2024 ( news )

Today , Clark County approved over $30 million to support the construction and operation of affordable housing for extremely low - income residents in need of services and support . Through this comprehensive funding package , which incorporates Federal HUD HOME ARP dollars and County Welcome Home funds , Southern Nevada will receive new housing solutions for those most in need .
“The funding ' s strategic deployment will ensure that some of our most vulnerable residents receive not only shelter but also integrated support services essential for maintaining long - term housing security and improving overall quality of life” said Clark County Commissioner Chairman Tick Segerblom .
The approved funding will support a variety of projects including:
A significant portion of these funds will be used to build a 50 - unit development geared specifically towards uplifting individuals transitioning from homelessness or at high risk of homelessness , as well as supporting other at - risk groups . This project is a partnership between George Gekakis , Inc . and HELP of Southern Nevada and will help provide case management and other services .
Coordinated Living of Southern Nevada ( CLSN ) received funding for services that will be provided at a 50 - unit development for extremely low - income individuals with chronic mental illnesses . This project , in partnership with Mojave Health , will provide intensive case management and psychiatric services .
Nevada HAND ' s project will receive funding to build and rehab units at one of two Nevada ' s low - income assisted living facilities; along with additional support for Sunrise Ranch – a 144 - unit project dedicated to serve youth aging out of foster care and other at - risk populations .
In addition to the significant investment of $30 million for supportive housing , the Board of County Commissioners has also ratified the allocation of more than $8 . 9 million in HUD HOME funds , destined for the construction of 629 affordable rental units for families , seniors , and the extremely low - income residents in need of service - enriched housing .
This initiative builds upon the County’s impactful investment in 2022 , which already paved the way for the construction or rehabilitation of nearly 2 , 500 units , providing shelter for families , seniors , and disabled individuals in need of housing in Southern Nevada .
Since 2022 , the County’s Welcome Home Community Housing Fund has invested approximately $200 million to support affordable housing development across the Las Vegas Valley . Project information can be found here:
