Arlington Recreation is excited to announce that beginning next school year ( fall of 2024 ) the Parmenter School at 17 Irving Street will be the new home for Arlington Kid Care . Once again both of the Preschool and Afterschool programs will be under the same roof . This new facility will allow both programs to grow and adapt to the growing needs of the Arlington community .   
   “The use of this larger building will allow greater enrollment and consideration of different programming in the future for non - school age children , ” said Arlington Town Manager , Jim Feeney . “The current programs often experience wait lists and this new location will allow the Town to better serve existing staff and students while providing for additional , diverse program offerings to our residents . ” 
   The Kid Care program is a Department of Early Education and Care licensed preschool program , as well as an afterschool program , serving Arlington children . It is overseen by the Recreation Department and like all Recreation programming , is a self - sustaining enterprise .   
   Another benefit of the new facility is that the Parmenter School will also be the administrative base for the Arlington Recreation Department .   
   “Having the Recreation Department and Kid Care programming at the same location will greatly enhance our service delivery , ” said Joe Connelly , Arlington’s Recreation Director . “It will allow our administrative staff to be readily available to assist our Kid Care program participants , parents , and staff . ” 
   Kid Care program participants will also benefit from the use of the newly renovated playground on site that was completed in 2023 under the direction of the Park and Recreation Commission . The Recreation Department has immediate plans to improve the space with flooring upgrades , painting improvements , and installing additional building security measures .
