   Tree Work on the Downtown Mall Planned for January
   CHARLOTTESVILLE , VA – 
   The City of Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Division will be performing yearly maintenance pruning on the Downtown Mall in January . The time frame for tree work is expected to be five days over a two - week period ( to allow for inclement weather ) , starting at 8:00 AM on Monday , January 8 , 2024 .
   Tree crews will try to complete the work in five consecutive days . Maintenance will include one tree removal , structural pruning and removal of dead branches for all canopy trees along the length of the mall . Tree work will closely resemble operations performed in January 2023 .
