Charlottesville Sheriff Celebrates One Year as Chair of National Committee
CHARLOTTESVILLE , VA –
Charlottesville City Sheriff James Brown is beginning his second year as Chair of the Court Security , Inmate Transportation , and Civil Process Committee for the National Sheriff’s Association . These functions of the Sheriff’s Offices across the United States are a vital part in helping to keep communities safe and helping to keep the court process operating smoothly . Sheriff Brown has over a dozen years’ experience as Sheriff and has overseen multiple high - profile , high - risk cases over the years . He served as President of the Virginia Sheriff’s Institute for two years and has served as Chair of the Albemarle - Charlottesville Regional Jail Board and Chair of the Workload Audit Committee for the Virginia Compensation Board . Sheriff Brown is a Board Member of The Greater Charlottesville Area United Way , and the Albemarle Housing Improvement Program , and serves as a Regional Director for the Virginia Sheriff’s Association . “I am honored to serve in this capacity with the National Sheriff’s Association . This Board meets twice each year and this gives us an opportunity to work with other agencies . We share information and look for further ways to improve our services to the community . ”
