Winston-Salem North Carolina - Traffic delays at Hanes Mill Rd landfill scales Feb 6 06 February 2024 ( news )

   One of the two scales at Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility is out of service until further notice . This is causing considerable delays on the right side of the scale house and lines are sometimes beyond the gate . While technicians make repairs , residential customers are reminded:
    - The FLAT RATE lane is on the left side of the Hanes Mill Road scale house:
   *$7 flat rate for cars , minivans & half - ton SUVs
   *$13 flat rate for pickups with an unaltered bed up to half - ton , full - size half - ton vans , and single - axle trailers up to 8 ft . long & 3 . 5 ft . high
    - Avoid the SCALE side on the right side of the scale house , unless you are required to weigh in and out
    - See more rate details on PDF linked below
    - Cover open loads with secured tarps
    - Expect facilities to be busy and follow posted rules
    - Practice patience and maintain safe distances with other citizens and employees
    - Check hours of operation for all four facilities at cityofws . org/landfill
