Water customers in Rural Hall from the 7000 block of Broad Street ( N . Winston - Salem/Forsyth County Utilities has responded to more than a dozen emergency calls since Friday . WSFC Utilities asks customers for continued patience while first responders work around the clock responding to each call .
For prompt assistance with a water emergency or sewer backup , you must call City Link at 336 - 727 - 8000 . While WSFC Utilities cannot assist with plumbing repairs on private property , department staff can shut water off at the meter in an emergency .
If you are experiencing water problems at your home or business , turn off your main water supply shut - off valve to minimize flooding if a pipe breaks . Preventative steps are best taken before cold weather hits , but simple home improvement measures could prevent problems and expensive repairs in the future .
Customers can insulate water heaters , pipes and faucets , especially in unheated spaces , and disconnect and drain outdoor water hoses . During extreme cold , open cabinet doors for warmer air circulation and allow faucets to trickle slowly .
