48th annual Images: A Festival of the Artsset to take place over the Jan . 26 - 28 weekend in downtown New Smyrna Beach , this Throwback Thursday we ' re turning the clock back to 1977 when the popular public art festival , now ranked 18th in the nation for Fine Art Festivals by
Sunshine Artist Magazine
, was still coming into its own .
In this photo , Lynn Podsiadlo and Jim Eldemire , both from Orlando , admire a pot made by Paul Adams of Ormond Beach during their visit to Images ' 77 , which at the time reportedly drew a crowd of 30 , 000 to 50 , 000 people and offered a total cash prize of $6 , 000 versus this year ' s $30 , 000 pot .
